Tutor Code of Conduct

Introduction
The Tutor Code of Conduct outlines the professional standards, ethical expectations, and behavioral guidelines for all tutors on the Slope platform. By becoming a tutor, you agree to uphold these principles and represent Slope with integrity and professionalism.
Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in account suspension, banning, or legal action. We take misconduct seriously to protect our students and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.
1. Professional Standards
1.1 Qualification & Accuracy
- Represent your qualifications, experience, and certifications truthfully
- List only subjects you are qualified and competent to teach
- Update your profile immediately if qualifications change
- Do not misrepresent degrees, certifications, or professional credentials
1.2 Availability & Reliability
- Maintain accurate calendar availability on Slope
- Honor all confirmed bookings and show up on time
- If you must cancel, provide at least 48 hours' notice to avoid penalties
- Communicate promptly if an emergency prevents you from teaching a session
- Maintain consistent quality across all sessions
1.3 Pricing & Payments
- Maintain clear, honest pricing that does not change unexpectedly
- Do not charge additional fees beyond your stated hourly rate without prior agreement
- Process all payments exclusively through Slope; do not solicit direct payments
- Do not offer discounts or incentives to encourage off-platform transactions
2. Student Respect & Safety
2.1 Professional Boundaries
- Maintain appropriate student-tutor relationships based solely on academics
- Do not establish romantic or sexual relationships with students
- Do not meet students in private, non-academic settings (outside scheduled sessions)
- Respect student privacy and do not share student information with others
- Do not request personal information beyond what is necessary for teaching
2.2 Respectful Conduct
- Treat all students with respect, kindness, and professionalism
- Do not engage in harassment, bullying, discrimination, or abusive language
- Do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or background
- Respond professionally to student questions and concerns
- Be patient and supportive, especially with struggling students
2.3 Online Safety
- Use appropriate language and tone in all communications
- Do not share inappropriate, sexually explicit, or violent content
- Do not pressure students or manipulate them through messaging
- Keep all student contact to the Slope messaging system (do not request personal phone numbers, social media, or email)
- Report any student misconduct or inappropriate requests to Slope admin
3. Teaching Quality & Integrity
3.1 Session Delivery
- Begin and end sessions on time
- Prepare thoughtfully for each session based on student needs
- Adapt your teaching style to match the student's learning pace
- Provide constructive feedback and actionable guidance
- Focus on helping the student understand material, not just providing answers
3.2 Academic Integrity
- Do not complete assignments for students; teach them to do the work themselves
- Do not help students cheat or plagiarize
- Promote independent learning and critical thinking
- If you suspect a student is asking for help with cheating, refuse and report it
3.3 Communication & Feedback
- Respond to student messages within 24 hours
- Keep students informed of their progress
- Be honest about areas where the student needs improvement
- Suggest follow-up sessions or resources if needed
4. Platform Rules
4.1 Use of Slope Platform
- Use Slope only for legitimate tutoring purposes
- Do not attempt to bypass platform payment systems
- Do not recruit or solicit students to leave Slope or book off-platform
- Do not share your login credentials with others
- Do not attempt to access or modify other tutors' profiles or information
4.2 Content & Media
- Do not upload or share copyrighted materials without permission
- Respect intellectual property rights in all teaching materials
- Do not use students' images, names, or information in marketing or social media
- Keep all student records confidential
4.3 Prohibited Activities
- Do not engage in fraud or misrepresentation
- Do not spam, phish, or attempt to hack the platform
- Do not create multiple accounts to evade rules or manipulate ratings
- Do not use bots or automation to artificially boost your profile
- Do not advertise unrelated products or services through Slope
5. Disputes & Complaints
5.1 Handling Disputes
- If a student files a dispute, respond promptly and truthfully
- Provide details and evidence if applicable
- Cooperate fully with the admin team's dispute resolution process
- Accept the admin decision even if you disagree
5.2 Multiple Violations
Tutors with repeated complaints or disputes may be suspended or permanently banned. Serious violations (fraud, harassment, misconduct) may result in immediate termination and legal action.
6. Data & Confidentiality
- Keep all student information (names, emails, academic details) confidential
- Do not share student data with third parties without explicit permission
- Do not use student information for purposes other than tutoring
- Delete student contact information if they request account termination
- Comply with all data protection laws and Slope's Privacy Policy
7. Health, Safety & Substance Abuse
7.1 Mental & Physical Health
- Do not tutor while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- If you are dealing with personal issues that affect your ability to teach, temporarily disable your availability
- Do not provide medical, psychological, or professional advice outside your expertise
- If a student discloses mental health concerns, listen supportively but refer them to appropriate professionals
7.2 Safeguarding
- Report any student safety concerns to Slope admin immediately
- Do not ignore red flags such as signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation
- Do not supply alcohol, drugs, or other harmful substances to students
8. Compliance & Legal
8.1 Laws & Regulations
- Comply with all Lebanese laws and international standards
- Do not engage in activities that violate local, national, or international law
- Understand your tax obligations as a self-employed tutor
- Provide accurate identification if requested by Slope admin
8.2 Cooperation with Authorities
- Cooperate with Slope admin investigations of complaints
- Respond to requests for clarification or documentation
- If law enforcement requests information, Slope will comply with legal requirements
9. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Welcome students from all backgrounds and cultures
- Adapt your teaching to accommodate different learning styles
- Challenge your own biases and provide equitable instruction
- Do not allow personal beliefs to negatively impact student learning
- Create an inclusive environment where all students feel valued
10. Continuous Improvement
- Seek student feedback and use it to improve your teaching
- Stay updated on your subject areas through continuous learning
- Reflect on your effectiveness as a tutor regularly
- Engage with Slope updates, resources, and best practices
- Report technical issues or platform improvements to support@slope.academy
- Warning and required training
- Temporary suspension (1-30 days)
- Permanent banning from Slope
- Forfeiture of outstanding earnings
- Legal action for serious violations
Reporting Violations
If you witness or experience a tutor's misconduct, please report it immediately:
- Use the "Report" feature in the student's Slope account
- Email: conduct@slope.academy
- Subject line: "[URGENT]" for serious safety concerns
All reports are reviewed confidentially by our admin team. We take all concerns seriously and will investigate thoroughly.
Acknowledgment
By signing up as a tutor on Slope, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Violation of any provision may result in suspension or termination of your Slope account.
