2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account Registration: Email address, name, password, phone number, university, area of study, and profile picture
- Profile Information: For tutors: subjects taught, hourly rate, qualifications, teaching experience, availability calendar
- Booking & Payment: Session preferences, booking history, payment method information (processed securely)
- Communication: Messages sent through our chat system, contact form submissions, and support requests
- OAuth Data: When signing in via Google or Facebook, we receive: email, name, profile picture, and basic account information from the OAuth provider
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device & Browser: Device type, operating system, browser type, IP address, timezone
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on platform, search queries, click patterns
- Cookies & Tracking: Session cookies for authentication, preferences cookies, analytics cookies (with your consent)
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve Slope services
- Authenticate your account and verify your identity
- Process bookings, payments, and disputes
- Enable communication between students and tutors via messaging
- Send service notifications (session reminders, booking confirmations, password resets)
- Respond to support inquiries and resolve disputes
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions
- Analyze platform usage to improve user experience and features
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Send marketing emails (only with your consent; you can unsubscribe anytime)
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
4.1 Information We Don't Sell
We do NOT sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
4.2 Necessary Sharing
We may share your information with:
- Supabase: Our backend provider (stores databases, handles authentication)
- Resend: Email service for transactional emails and optional newsletters
- Payment Processors: If/when payment processing is implemented
- OAuth Providers: When you sign in with Google or Facebook, we share minimal data with them
- Law Enforcement: When required by law or to protect our legal rights
4.3 Data Visibility on Platform
Tutors' Information: Your public profile (name, subjects, rate, ratings) is visible to all students browsing the platform.
Messages: Your chat messages are only visible to the student/tutor you're messaging with.
5. OAuth & Third-Party Authentication
When you sign in with Google or Facebook, you authorize us to access your email and profile information from that service. We do not access your password or other sensitive data. You can revoke our access at any time through your Google or Facebook account settings.

6. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your profile is marked as inactive
- Personal data is retained for 30 days (in case of account recovery request)
- After 30 days, personal data is permanently deleted
- Messages and transaction history are anonymized but may be kept for dispute resolution
To request account deletion, email support@slope.academy or use the delete option in your account settings.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Secure password hashing
- Database encryption at rest (via Supabase)
- Row-level security policies for data access control
- Regular security audits and updates
However, no system is 100% secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to security@slope.academy.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

10. Children's Privacy
Slope is intended for students aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users under 16. If we become aware that a user is under 16, we will delete their account and data within 30 days. Parents/guardians concerned about a child's account should contact us at privacy@slope.academy.
11. Data Processing & International Transfers
Our services are hosted on Supabase servers, which may be located in different countries. By using Slope, you consent to the transfer of your personal information outside your country of residence, where data protection laws may differ. We implement appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your information.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the platform. Your continued use of Slope after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
